What To Advertise

I don't care what the nature of your business is; the only thing you should advertise is a Sales Page.

What is a Sales Page?

Before I tell you what is a Sales Page, let me tell you what a Sales Page is NOT.

  • Anything that does not have an outstanding headline is not a Sales Page.
  • Anything that does not have a PROMINENT call to action is not a Sales Page.

If your opt-in form is hidden at one corner of your Sales Page, please do not expect your prospects to search for it and opt in!
  • A Sales Page is not your beautiful homepage, unless your homepage is a Sales Page.
  • A Sales Page should not be hosted on a free server, especially those with frames and advertisements scattering all over the pages. Who has confidence to buy from you if you can't even pay for decent hosting?
  • A Sales Page should not have a colorful background with hard to read wordings. The best is to use white or light color background with dark wordings, or black background with white wordings. The contrast must be strong and the wordings should be easy to read.
  • A Sales Page is not a product catalog that displays all kind of products you sell.
  • A Sales Page is not your blog homepage that lists down the recent articles.
  • A Sales Page should not have too many links or navigation bars to distract the prospects or divert their attention.

You want your prospects to read your Sales Page from top to bottom and then take action on whatever action you want them to take. That's it. Please don't add other irrelevant links to the Sales Page.

A powerful Sales Page for advertising should consist of 3 important sections:

  1. Headline

It must have a headline that either clearly summarizes the USP (unique selling preposition) of your offer.

It should also answer the question, "What is in it for ME?". (ME refers to your prospect, not you!).
  2. Content

The objective of the Content is to boost prospects' confidence in you, your product and themselves. Remember, Sales is all about transfer of confidence.

If the Sales Page is to get people to opt-in, the alternative objective of the Content can be to infuse curiosity about your offer to the prospects.
  3. Closing

Closing must have an obvious call to action that gets people to take immediate action.

Where To Advertise

Before answering the question of "where to advertise", you must first ask yourself "Who is your target audience?" or "Who will buy your products?"

One extremely common mistake that marketers make, including myself, is to think that the target audience is EVERYBODY. We always have a tendency to think that our product is very good and many people will want it. If you have a similar thinking, get ready to be disappointed.

Remember, if you are targeting everyone, you are getting no one.

Some examples of how to identify who your REAL target audience is.

Example #1 - You are promoting a forex trading system. Who is your target audience?

If you think that your target audiences are people interested in making money online, chances are you are wrong. These people may opt-in to your free forex ecourse, but they are not likely to buy anything from you. Reason? Because of lack of confidence!  Sales is a transfer of confidence.

It takes time for newbies to develop the confidence that they can make money through forex trading. They may buy from you one day, but you got to be patience enough to wait.

Your true target audiences are people who are already trading forex and want to find ways to improve their trades.

Example #2 - You are promoting a 'special tennis winning strategy'. Who is your target audience?

If you think that your target audiences are people who play tennis, chances are you are wrong. You see, many people play tennis, but most are not serious players.

Perhaps you should target tennis coaches and players who are going for tournaments.

Back to our original question, "where to advertise?"

The answer is, all the websites where you can find your REAL target audiences!

LeadsLeap provides a free online advertising and marketing tools for internet marketers. Knowing the profile of our users, what do you think is the best ad to advertise? It's definitely not some Jewellery Offers or Sports Shoe Sale.

In conclusion, there are two keys to note when deciding where to advertise:
  1. Who are your REAL target audiences? (Always keep the question open because who you think may be your target audience may not be one!)
  2. Where you can find these target audiences? (Whatever the answer is, find ways to channel the traffic from there to your website.)

Identifying the right place to advertise is half the battle won. The next important factor is knowing what to advertise, which brings us to the next chapter.

Why Advertising Doesn't Work

1. Advertising vs Search Engine Traffic

People come to the Search Engine with a need. They do a search and find your website. They believe that the Search Engine will deliver the result they are looking for, thus, they believe that your website has what they want.

In advertising, you cannot expect prospects to stick around on your website. You have less than 5 seconds to capture their interest. If you fail to do that, they'll leave.

That's why in advertising, it is vital to advertise a page that can IMMEDIATELY tell people what is in it for THEM. If your advertising page fails to do that, your advertising effort will be wasted.

Guess what, visitors will wonder what this website is all about. Before they even think of the answer, they close the window.

Another disadvantage of advertising is you may reach out to people who do not have the need for your product at that point of time.

You may have purchased very targeted traffic. Your website may be presented to prospects who is interested in your product. But they may not have an immediate need for the product you're offering.

In such case, you'll have to think of other ways to promote your product. I'll cover this in Chapter 12 > How To Advertise A Product That Has No Immediate Needs.

2. Advertising vs Word Of Mouth

Another effective way to bring traffic is word of mouth. This includes email marketing, forum marketing, blog marketing and social media marketing.

Here is the interesting thing about Word Of Mouth > If Product X is advertised to you, you'll be doubtful. But if someone says Product X is good, you will tend to believe in him, especially if he is someone you trust.

That's why affiliates can sell better than the product owner.
That's why testimonials sell better than any sales pitch.
In advertising, there is no trust between advertiser and prospects.

The characteristics of your prospects from ads

The prospects are usually defensive and skeptical when they look at an advertisement. That means it is harder to sell to them.

They are ONLY interested in "What's in it for ME?"

You also have to assume that they are busy and lazy. They have no time to figure out what your website is all about or what you are trying to sell.

Most of them will NOT read the full content of your website.

They'll only scan through the headline.

If the headline captures their attention, they may scan through the subheadlines, testimonials and/or screenshots.

Otherwise, they'll leave.

Why is it a MUST to master advertising?

1) It is easy and sustainable.

Although advertising is probably the worst form of traffic generation, it is also the easiest and most sustainable form.

You don't have to rely on other people, like the case of affiliate marketing. You also don't have to worry about search engines updating their algorithm.

For those who don't understand the nature of advertising and characteristics of their prospects, they will realize that advertising is as good as throwing money into the drain.

But if you know how to overcome the limitations and disadvantages of advertising, advertising can be your secret weapon.

2) It is scalable.

A renowned marketer once said, the difference between five figure income and six figure income is advertising.

It is quite typical for a budding website to spend 80% of their earnings on advertising. As long as your ads are generating positive return, scaling your business is as easy as increasing your advertising budget.

3) It is duplicable.

If you master the art of advertising, you can easily teach other people the same method and they can duplicate your success easily.

This is especially important to those who are in the MLM industry.

Leadsleap.com is a hybrid of voluntary and incentive advertising. Although we reward our members to click ads, members choose which ad to click based on their own interest. Also, LeadsLeap ads are shown in thousands of traffic exchanges and blogs. That means our advertisers will receive traffic beyond LeadsLeap network.

This is a featured Social Review on Topdogsrotator

https://topdogsrotator.com/piano

I love autopilot advertising. This is truly a set and forget system. Well almost. I do log in about once a week to add credits, see if there is anything new and to place more ads.

Two different types of ads are available. The rotator ad and the micro ads. At first, I only set up the rotator but have found that the micro ads are getting good clicks as well.

I took the lowest lifetime membership and it has been plenty of credits for me.

I took a little time to figure out but worth the effort.

Also, if you like to click for credits on traffic exchanges then the owner has created a great tool to do that called the Mania Tool. This did take me a bit longer to figure out than the ads and it does not work with all exchanges.

Overall I give this top billing as an autopilot ad system.

Enjoy
