How To Understand The Writing Section Of The SAT

The truth about making money from home

High school students often have a hard time seeing beyond the days and the problems that are directly in front of them, and this is one of the biggest obstacles that stands in the way of most high school students when it comes to the SAT; at the same time, however - regardless of whether you are a high school student or the parent of a high school student - understanding the importance of the SAT, and being prepared for it as best as is possible, will be extremely important (after all, the SAT determines what schools you are able to get into, and how much money these schools will give you!).

On the writing section of the SAT, the multiple choice section should be your first focus, where you will have to display an understanding of word usage and writing rules, but while this might sound intimidating, realize that there are patters to these questions (after all, it is a standardized test!), and when you study and figure out how you can tackle these questions well, you will have no problem at all.

Of course, the multiple choice questions are not the ones that tend to scare students the most when it comes to the Writing section of the SAT, as this section also includes the essay. The essay can be intimidating, but the main things you should make yourself aware of are what the graders are looking for (again - it is a standardized test, which means all the graders need to be looking for the same things!); the graders are looking for you to take a stance on one side or the other of the topic presented on your test, and they want you to show a grasp of the subject - with clear examples and an ability to convey why you feel the way you feel. There is no "right" or "wrong" answer if you are able to accomplish these things, so before the test, practice (timed practice, that is!) as much as you can with sample SAT essay questions, and get in the habit of fulfilling these things the graders will be looking for - and when it comes time for you to take the test, you should have no problem at all!
